October 7, on the World’s Day of Trade Union Actions for Decent Work, the BKDP had its Council meeting at which a program of further activities of the union was adopted to gain the decent work and living of all people of . The young trade union activists disseminated the BKDP Appeal among workers near the enterprise entrances and in the city streets. The information materials were delivered to the post boxes in residential houses across the city.

At the end of October or in November the BKDP plans to have a Round-Table dedicated to the current social and economic policy pursued by the government and discuss the ways the BKDP could employ to influence the processes promoting growth of living standards of Belarusian people.

Salary increase; abolishing of slavery-like short-term contracts humiliating human dignity and self-respect, denial of plunderous privatization – these are the major objectives the BKDP is to solve. The implementation of these objectives is a part of general strategy of the union and is a contribution to the exercise of the right for decent work for all people of . These strategies were repeated in the BKDP proposals for the General Agreement to be signed by the Government worker’s and employers’ organizations for 2009 – 2011. At the forthcoming tripartite National Council for labor and social issues the BKDP will resolutely insist on their adoption.
